The Linwood Trees is not about the literal trees; it’s about a place that is intertwined through families, neighbors and generations. It’s about a place that knows no stranger, just one big family of Linwood.
Edited and compiled by Janet Balliett Waggoner and Gretchen Waggoner Long, The Linwood Trees is filled with stories and facts contributed by the people of Linwood have been recorded for you and for future generations.
In listing what they love about Linwood, some say, “Linwood never changes – each summer when I return I know it will be just as I left it.” Others say “remember when ...” and tell how things have changed.
The Linwood Trees focuses on how things have in fact changed, but more importantly how they’ve stayed the same because of the owner and renter families that make up Linwood today. Some are new to the community, some date back to the first generation.
In all the stories, one thing is true for all of Linwood. Our love of Linwood is really our love of what happens each time we return: warm greetings to and from everyone you pass; friendships with people who share similar family values; memories made; and family traditions continued or established. Linwood is a special place where our outside worries are left at the gate and people of all generations can relate to one another.
Linwood is more than a place we visit; it’s a place in our hearts.
